First Presbyterian Church
First Presbyterian Church
David Ruth, a graduate of Lumberton High School and former member of FPC, came back home as a Pastor in 2014. After graduating from UNC-Wilmington, David was a banker with BB&T, a stockbroker with Merrill Lynch and for twenty years an automobile dealer in Fayetteville. Upon discerning a call to enter full-time ministry, David attended Duke Divinity School. He then served as Pastor of Williamsburg Presbyterian Church from 2005-2014. David is married to someone whose bio is also on this website, Eva M. Ruth. They have three children and six grandchildren. In his spare time David likes to play golf and read.
Eva Ruth is an ordained Presbyterian Minister who is also a licensed clinical chaplain. She enjoys visiting our members and planning various Bible studies for our congregation. Eva remains young at heart so you may find her on one of the youth retreats for our older adults or middle schoolers, helping with VBS or FISH, or at Camp Monroe. But perhaps most of all, in her free time, you will find Eva with her family, enjoying the outdoors. Her six grandchildren hold her heartstrings.
Heather Miller is our Director of Children's and Youth Ministries. She has the fun challenge of using her degrees in education and music to write and direct children's musicals, as well as to find new and creative ways to teach the gospel to youth. Her job keeps her hopping from teaching arts and crafts to preschoolers to hosting youth Bible studies at her house. When she is not hanging out with kids at First Pres, she can be found in a high school gym watching her son play basketball or facetiming her daughter, who is a student at the University of Kansas. A native New Mexican, Heather loves hiking in the mountains, but has found a love for the beach in her adopted state of North Carolina.
Kenneth Sasser is our finance manager since 2014. He is a trusted and valued member of our staff.
Kristin Newberry is our Secretary since 2019. When not working she can be found at the bowling alley or in a dance studio with her 3 children.
Christian Roseboro is the Director of Contemporary Worship, as well as a music director at Fairmont High School. He's working on his Doctorate in Music Education and enjoys hunting and fishing.
Allen Lloyd is the Director of Traditional Music and organist and has served in the Music Ministry at FPC for over 38 years. He is also the Director of Accounting and Human Resources at Wesley Pines in Lumberton and enjoys spending his spare time at the beach.
Amanda Hooks is our Nursery Director. Amanda loves camping, going to the beach, and hanging by the pool with her husband and 2 daughters.
Tracy Hunt has been married for 23 years and has 4 children. She's currently studying early childhood education and taking medical assistant classes. In her spare time she enjoys reading and shopping.
Weekday School Director
Mark Ransom is our buidling supervisor for 32 years. He enjoys ministering to others, visiting the sick, and spending quality porch time with his family.
